Lidar 3D Point Cloud Processing and Sensor Fusion based on Intel® Architecture for C-V2X

Background: As a new industrial platform that deeply integrates semiconductor, intelligent computing, wireless communication, automobile manufacturing and transportation industries, C-V2X has huge potential in improving traffic safety and efficiency. The roadside infrastructure is an essential part of the new infrastructure of C-V2X, and the relevant sub-industries are accelerating the pace of application.

Recently, Intel completed the review of the white paper on the Lidar 3D Point Cloud Processing and Sensor Fusion based on Intel® Architecture for C-V2X, and publicly disclosed the roadside sensing and roadside edge computing solution.

Based on the Intel® architecture, LeiShen Intelligent’s 128-line auto-grade hybrid solid-state Lidar — CH128X1 also plays a part in this solution, providing ultra-clear, multi-dimensional 3D point cloud data for deep learning of roadside edge computing devices. Together with the camera, it effectively improves the accuracy and reliability of data acquisition.

The white paper specifically introduces that Lidar is becoming an increasingly important sensor in intelligent transportation. As a roadside sensing device, Lidar is being used more and more widely for its excellent performance in 3D imaging and precise ranging. Besides, the roadside edge computing devices based on the Intel® architecture have shown superb performance in processing the 3D point cloud generated by Lidar (whether in deep learning or traditional computer vision).

Following the completion of over 50 cooperative vehicle-infrastructure solutions in dozens of cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chongqing, Suzhou, Zhengzhou, Xuchang, Xi’an, Changzhou, Tianjin, Wuhan, etc., LeiShen Intelligent’s Lidar products featuring in high precision and remarkable performance have been successfully certified again.

It is believed that this set of Lidar 3D point cloud processing and sensor fusion solution based on the Intel® architecture will actively empower the C-V2X and provide traffic safety and efficiency improvements for a variety of intelligent transportation scenarios.

The cooperation of LeiShen Intelligent, Intel and JHCTech has accelerated the research and development of related products and solutions, which is conducive to promoting the early commercialization of cooperative vehicle-infrastructure solutions based on the C-V2X.
